🌬️ Beyond the Surface: How Dusting and Air Purifiers Contribute to Cleaner Indoor Air
Share
Hello Air Quality Advocates and ShimmerHome Customers!
A truly clean home goes beyond what you can see; it extends to the air you breathe. Dust isn't just unsightly—it’s a major carrier of common household allergens, including dust mites, pet dander, and pollen. Combining proper dusting techniques with air filtration ensures a healthier indoor environment.
Â
1. The Right Way to Dust
Â
The goal is to trap, not relocate, dust.
-
Dry Dusting: Only effective with a high-quality microfiber cloth (see Blog #3) which traps particles with a static charge.
-
Damp Dusting: Use a slightly damp cloth with a mild all-purpose cleaner to trap and hold the particles.
-
Start High: Always dust from the highest points (shelves, light fixtures) and work your way down to the floor, where the particles can be vacuumed or swept up.
Â
2. The Power of Air Filtration
Â
An air purifier with a HEPA filter continuously cycles air through a dense mesh that captures those microscopic particles that inevitably float away from your dusting. Placing a purifier in the main living space or bedrooms can dramatically reduce airborne allergens and improve sleep quality.
